“My family praised me for returning Wuhan last year, because the city is the safest place now,” Renato, the executive director of Hanshengguanghua Culture & Education Co.,Ltd. said in an interview with Hubei Daily on April 7.
“People wearing masks, instruments for measuring body temperature, and slogans calling everyone to be vaccinated against the new coronovirus can be seen everywhere, " he added, “All these measures make me feel at ease."
Renato came to Huazhong University of Science and Technology to study for a master's degree from Brazil in 2010. Since then, he has been studying and working in Wuhan all along.
As a professional in public management and renewable energy policy, Renato is very concerned about the traffic condition in Wuhan, which became his start for observing the city's development.
“It took me a long time to get to the other side of the Yangtze River by bus when I first came to the city," he recalled. A few years later, the subway lines were opened to traffic and weaved a huge underground transportation network, which not only bring more convenience, but is also more environment-friendly.
He went to Belarus before the Spring Festival and returned to Wuhan in October last year.
"During the epidemic, I have been following the news about Hubei. I knew the Huoshenshan Hospital and Leishenshan Hospital, the makeshift hospital and the medical workers who rushed to aid Hubei from all over China," he recited, "After going back to Wuhan, I found the city reborn, even much more modern and safe."
Renato's life is going smooth and orderly in Wuhan now, however, he is still worried about the epidemic abroad. In his spare time, he studied a great deal of literatures and news reports, proposing to write an essay on how Hubei fought against the epidemic and what policies and actions the Chinese government has taken to support the province.
"I want to introduce China's political system and economic model to more people by analyzing various measures adopted by Wuhan during the epidemic," he said.
He is also quite focused on how the economy in Hubei recovered after the epidemic.
"The epidemic has made Hubei pay more attention to the field of public health. Moreover, the province pushed the basic service sectors back to the track while creating possibilities to accelerate innovation and development in biotechnology, new energy, and information technology,” he specified, adding that abundant human resources, numerous universities and colleges also played a significant role in the province’s recovery.
He believed that Hubei will have more opportunities to engage in the dialogues with the world.
"I hope to publish mys essay as soon as possible, so more people in the world can be aware of Hubei's experience and finally defeat the virus hand in hand," he expressed his wishes. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
